A Brief History of Lilac & The Phylum Chordata

After a chance audition for an Independent Record Label looking to sign a new artist,
Lilac was offered a record deal. Despite this opportunity, Lilac decided to go her own
way where she could write and record her own music. Her earlier sample CD had
received a great response including airplay on KCLA radio where she was featured on
their "up and rising artists" show.

From an early age, Lilac has enjoyed listening to music. She has danced at every
opportunity that has presented itself, from entering talent shows to joining school dance
teams. Dancing was her escape, for during that “real-time,” there was no thinking, only
moving to a rhythmic beat. Another outlet, writing poetry and lyrics, has helped Lilac
express her thoughts about life and the overall human condition.

Lilac’s front “person” abilities, reflects her musical, dancing, and expressive capabilities!

Then one day Lilac met David.

Individually, each has accomplished varying degrees of success with their musical
pursuits. Together Lilac and The Phylum Chordata have evolved (like that science
connection?) into a recording and performing “synth” duo. Together, through the
natural selection of various traits, which when blended, breeds a dynamic hybrid of the
two talents. Thus, a unique timbre, sound, and harmony is created.

Lilac and The Phylum Chordata’s sound are various David-made electronica timbres,
with folksy chord progressions, mixed with 80’s-esque hooks and quirks, meeting the
angelic, yet powerfully expressive lyrical styling of Lilac’s vocals!

Why is the Phylum Chordata "hyping" Lilac's CD?

The music and the programming for the songs "Till You are Mine" and "Leave it
All Behind" was written and produced by David of the Phylum Chordata. Also,  several
components for the song "Fly Away" were co-programmed and co-produced by
David of the Phylum Chordata.

Hence, the Phylum Chordata is proud of its contribution to her fine CD...
